Residents walk past barricades and burni
Residents walk past barricades and burning tires on the main road leading to the Abobo district of Abidjan on March 15, 2011 one day after violent fighting between troops loyal to Ivory Coast strongman Laurent Gbagbo and forces backing internationally recognized President Alassane Ouattara to control strategic military barracks in the Williamsville area of Adjame. Gbagbo's troops were holding key positions in Abidjan on March 15 after repulsing forces of his rival for the presidency in a key battle for control of the country's economic capital. Pro-Gbagbo forces held on to the barracks after the heaviest day of fighting since a disputed November 2010 election plunged the country into violence.
