(Original Caption) Pope Paul receives President Kennedy. Vatican City: Pope Paul VI and President John F. Kennedy seated in conversation during their meeting. Kennedy called at the Vatican-the first Catholic President of the United States to be received by the Supreme Pontiff. Kennedy had been in various European countries-Germany, Berlin, Ireland and Britain. He had talks with Italian political leaders in Rome. He left Italy from Naples.
