Players for Long Beach's new minor league baseball team, the Breakers, take their seats in the team
Players for Long Beach's new minor league baseball team, the Breakers, take their seats in the team bus for a trip to Utah for a game against the "Pioneers" on 05/16/2001. They'll make a quick turnaround and be back in Long Beach for their home season opener on Monday. This, as with much of minors, is a team of second chances: the players, 8 of them hometown boys and 22 of them from Southern California want one last shot at the majors. The coach, retired Dodger catcher Steve Yeager, has rediscovered the player not in it for the money. (Photo by Bob Chamberlin/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)
