DENVER, COLORADO, MAY 9, 2006--A photo of the Mayan Theater to illustrate Denver's changing indie theater field. Although Landmark Theaters just signed a new contract, the land on which the Mayan stands has a new owner. Landmark is opening a new indieplex out in Greenwood Village, AMC is about to program suburban theaters with consistent arthouse/indie fare and when the Lowenstein complex opens it will feature a three-screen indie house. So it's time to talk about what these changes mean for Denver and what they say about film culture.
