LIMA, PERU: Peru: Peruvian police deny access to relatives of inmates at the Miguel Castro prison 07 May 1992 one day after rebel prisoners armed with explosives, guns and acid held a 16-hour stand off with the Peruvian military inside the prison compound. Two policemen and 11 prisoners were reportedly killed in the confrontation which started hours after Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori announced that people implicated with terrorism would receive life sentences.
