Some Patients Who Survive a Long Stint in the ICU Suffer From "Post-ICU Syndrome"
PITTSBURGH, PA- OCT 02: Connie Bovier was winded after walking around her house in the dark because the power went out in her home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Octoberr 02, 2021. With no power, the large oxygen concentrator that supplies the in-home air she breathes was not working. She had to use the portable tanks that only offer about two hours of air per tank. Bovier is on oxygen 24/7 has to deal with the inconvenience of having to lug around an oxygen tank wherever she goes. Bovier has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and has been in the ICU twice since 2018.
