Refugees In Calais Hold Silent March in Memory of Youssef
CALAIS, FRANCE - DECEMBER 5, 2015: On Thursday December 3, Youssef (whom various reportage say was aged between 16-22) from Sudan tried to depart the refugee camp in Calais, France dubbed 'the jungle' to attempt to enter the UK. He was allegedly run over by a lorry driver who didn't stop. An ambulance arrived at the scene an hour later, but it was too late and Youssef was pronounced dead. The refugees from the camp in Calais took part in a silent march on December 5, 2015 about Youssef's death, and to protest against the living conditions they are experiencing, and the risks that they have to face. The protesters intended to march into the city of Calais, but French CRS riot control forces prevented them from doing so. (Photo by Veronique de Viguerie/Getty Images)
