University of Rostock researches aquaponics systems

18 October 2021, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rostock: African catfish are caught with a landing net in the aquaculture research facility at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Rostock. In the experimental aquaponics facility, the interaction between fish and plant cultivation is being researched. What the fish leave behind in the water serves as a nutrient for the plants. Afterwards, the plants in turn clean the water from the breeding tanks.
