Annual Northern League Meeting In Pontida

The annual meeting is a symbolic event held on the site where the Lombard League was formed in 1167. The league was an alliance of northern Italian cities which won the Battle of Leganano against the forces of Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, giving the northern cities local jurisdiction over their territories. The main topic of this year's meeting is the European elections, which will be held on May 25.
