Passengers At Changi Airport In Singapore Protest Themselves Against SARS
SINGAPORE - APRIL 24: A mother and daughter wear surgical masks as they check the departure time of their flight at Changi International Airport April 24, 2003 in Singapore. The country continues to struggle to contain the spread of the deadly pneumonia-like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). So far the strain has killed more than 200 people mostly in China, Hong Kong, Canada and Singapore. The virus thought to cause SARS is constantly changing form, say scientists - which will make developing a vaccine difficult. There have now been almost 4,000 probable cases of SARS reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). In Singapore, 2,467 people are under home quarantine with the total number of infected at 189 and the death toll is currently at 16. (Photo by Paula Bronstein/Getty Images)
