United Nations Security Council Meets On Situation In Ukraine

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - APRIL 19: Members of the United Nations Security Council meet at the United Nations on April 19, 2022 in New York City. The United Nations Security Council met today as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Russia has renewed its assault on the eastern Donbas, with attacks escalating in Luhansk and Donetsk. Earlier today, António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General, called for a four-day Holy Week humanitarian pause beginning when Ukrainians and Russians celebrate Holy Thursday on April 21 and running through Easter Sunday, April 24 to allow for the opening of a series of humanitarian corridors. The safe passage would allow civilians wanting to leave Ukraine in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross, with the United Nations ready to aid convoys during this period.
