Feminicide, is a sexual and gender hate crime, broadly defined as the killing of women by a male person. The issue of femicide is a growing problem in contemporary Turkey, 68 women has been killed in the first term of 2015 with a steady increase in the number of cases over the last years:137 in 2012, 226 in 2013, 283 in 2014 ). After the riots of Taksim square in 2013, during which 11 people were killed, more traditional values are broadcasted by the Erdogan's government. The increase in the number of episodes of violence against women are claimed to happen by human rights activists because of such kind of shift of values. Turkey will have Parlimentary elections on the 7th of June 2015.
