Wheelchairs steerable by mind control
17 June 2019, North Rhine-Westphalia, Bochum: Sarshar Manoucheher, a paraplegic patient, drives with his wheelchair through a parcours, controlled by a brain-computer-interface by thought power. A working group of researchers from the Lausanne University of Technology in Switzerland and neurosurgeons from the Bergmannsheil University Hospital are investigating the potential of this technique for patients suffering from spinal cord injury and paralysis of the arms and legs. The first applications of the system have already been successful. Photo: Rolf Vennenbernd/dpa (Photo by Rolf Vennenbernd/picture alliance via Getty Images)
