The fungus is toxic, must not be allowed to enter foodstuffs and renders the grain of the ear worthless. The scientists at the JKI Institute are conducting research into improving the resistance or tolerance properties of crop plants to influences such as fungal infestation or climate change. Against the background of climate change, the aim of the research is to ensure the yield performance of the plants.
