Refugee Jewish Children At School In Haifa, Palestine
Jewish pupils, including a number of refugee children recently released from concentration camps in former Nazi Germany, learn the Hebrew language in a classroom at a school near the port city of Haifa in Palestine (later Israel) on 6th November 1945. Many children at the school have lost all trace of their parents and are presumed to be orphans. Currently the number of Jewish immigrants allowed to enter Palestine is limited by quota to 1500 per month under the 1939 White Paper mandate. (Photo by Jack Esten/Popperfoto via Getty Images)
