Political crisis in Venezuela

23 January 2019, Venezuela, Caracas: Juan Guaido, president of the disempowered parliament in Venezuela, declares himself head of state at a rally in front of supporters and holds a copy of the constitution. Guaido called on all those present "not to rest" until the country has attained freedom. President Maduro was sworn in two weeks ago for his second term in office. However, numerous states, international organizations and the opposition do not recognize him as a legitimate president because last year's elections did not meet democratic standards.
