Ice Sheet Climate Change in Greenland
Ice Sheet, Greenland - May 12: The Greenland ice sheet is the largest ice sheet in the northern hemisphere. 2022 will mark one of the biggest ice melt years for Greenland in recorded history. Since measurements began in April 2002, the Greenland Ice Sheet has lost about 4700 gigatons (=4700 km³, enough to cover the entire U.S. by half a meter of water). If the Greenland ice sheet were to completely melt and the meltwater were to completely flow into the ocean, the global sea level would rise by about seven meters (23 feet).
