Hanni Wenzel from Liechtenstein clears a gate during the women's slalom, 23 February 1980 in Lake Placid at the Winter Olympic Games. Wenzel set the fastest times in both runs to win the gold medal in front of West German Christa Kinshofer (silver) and Swiss Erika Hess (bronze). During the skiing competition in Lake Placid, Hanni Wenzel won two gold medals (slalom and giant slalom) and a silver medal (downhill).
