238 Sub-saharan Migrants Jump The Fence In Melilla
MELILLA SPAIN, SPAIN - JULY 22: A group of migrants of sub-Saharan origin, after shedding their footwear, at the gates of the Centre for Temporary Stay of Immigrants (CETI) in Melilla, after jumping the fence with Morocco, 22 July 2021, in Melilla, Spain. A total of 238 migrants of sub-Saharan origin, some of them injured, have jumped the fence with Morocco in the early hours of today. This is the third largest jump recorded in the last ten days, after those recorded on July 12 and July 14 saw more than 120 migrants cross the border. Today's jump coincides with the celebration of the great Islamic Easter, the Aid el Kebir, a festive date chosen by migrants to cross the border because of a possible reduced police presence. Migrants who have managed to pass into Spanish territory must pass a quarantine, in case they are infected with the COVID-19 virus. (Photo By Europa Press via Getty Images)
