Great Sioux War of 1876. Battle of the Little Bighorn (June 25-26, 1876). Armed engagement between combined forces of the northern Cheyenne, Lakota and Arapaho tribes and the forces of the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer, who died on June 25 during the fighting.
