Small U.S. Town Struggles Through Long-Term Economic Malaise

LIBERTY, NY - JULY 05: A golf shoe lies amidst the debris of Grossinger's Catskill Resort Hotel on July 5, 2012 in Liberty, New York. The sprawling hotel and resort, closed since 1986, hosted up to 150,000 guests during it's prime in the 1960's. Grossinger's is just one of many Borscht Belt hotels that shut down over the years, beginning an economic decline in the town of Liberty and surrounding Sullivan County that the community has failed to reverse. The property, now in foreclosure, is considered abandoned. (Photo by John Moore/Getty Images)
