(Original Caption) Ghost Ship. Ocracoke Island, North Carolina: This is all that is left of the schooner Carroll A. Deering. It was washed up on the Ocracoke Island beach after breaking up on Diamond Shoals. Here a hurricane has blown the sands away exposing the battered hull, now she is almost sanded up again.
