Gaston Rojas (R) and his brother Marcelo

Gaston Rojas (R) and his brother Marcelo pick up Malbec grapes at Familia Zuccardi's vineyard, 11 March 2006, in Mendoza, Argentina. Malbec wine is, according to specialists, one of the traditional "Bordeaux varietals", and has characteristics that fall somewhere between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The administrative offices and the main winery lie beside the company's vineyards. The winery was built in 1968 and the vineyards cover 170 hectares (423 acres) surrounding it. There are other vineyards of 1,600 hectares in Santa Rosa desert, 85 kilometers east of Mendoza, of which, 440 hectares (1095 acres) are currently under vine.
