Langley Collyer Chatting with Neighbors Outside

(Original Caption) For the first time in almost a year, Langley Collyer, famed "hermit" of upper Fifth Avenue, appears during daylight. Sitting on the steps of his once-grand mansion, in what was formerly an exclusive residential section of the city, he has a Sunday afternoon chat with some of his neighbors. This photograph of the wealthy recluse was snapped during the brief time he was outdoors.
