File picture dated 27 November 1937 showing a Chinese peasant carrying his pigs with a cart, because of the requisitioning of trucks and vehicules. The 2nd Chinese-Japanese war started in 1937 with the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, near Beijin, pretext for the Japanese to launch a full-scale invasion of China, using the conquered Manchuria as a launching base for their troops.
