Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery (1887 - 1976) in one of the three caravans he previously used during World War II, in the grounds of Amesbury School in Hindhead, Surrey, 7th May 1946. Montgomery is staying in the caravan until taking up his new post as Chief of the Imperial General Staff in June.
