(Original Caption) Dr. Otto John, former West German Security Chief (with a position comparable to that of J. Edgar Hoover, FBI Director, in the US) who defected to the East German Communists in July 1954, has re-defected to the West,it was announced in Berlin today. Dr. John, sometimes called "the man of a thousand secrets", disguised himself and eluded his red guard with the aid of former West German associates and fled yesterday, the announcement said. He was flown to West Germany and his whereabouts are now an official secret.
