Daughter of the late, venerable book critic Anatole Broyard, Bliss Broyard has written a much anticipated memoir for Little Brown, "One Drop" about her family s nowfamous secret: her father's deathbed revelation that he was African American passing for white. In doing the research she spent much time in Louisiana, where her father's family was from, and also unearthed some Los Angeles Broyards who identify as black. After many fits and starts and derailments, the book comes out next week. She sits for a portrait at her Brooklyn, NY, apartment, Friday, September 7, 2007. (Photo by Liz O.
