White Rose Memorial Opening

MUNICH, GERMANY - SEPTEMBER 14: A copy of the sentences against (L-R) Willi Graf, Kurt Huber, Alexander Schmorell, Hans Scholl, Sophie Scholl and Christoph Probst is displayed at the recently established White Rose Memorial at the Munich district court, the former so called People's Court of Law (Volksgerichtshof) on September 14, 2007 in Munich, Germany. The White Rose was a student movement led, among others, by siblings Sophie Scholl and Hans Scholl, who distributed leaflets at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1943 urging passive resistance to the Nazis. Both were caught by the Gestapo, interrogated, and executed after a swift trial. The memorial is in the court room where the Scholls' trial took place and where the death sentences were outspoken between the 22th February and the 19th April of 1943.
