A copy of Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" (My Struggle) is sold at a street shop in Cairo on February 5, 2009. One of the most wanted Nazi war criminals, Aribert Heim or "Doctor Death," lived for years as a quiet, pious Muslim in a small hotel on the edge of Islamic Cairo, where he was known as Doctor Tarek. German public TV channel ZDF said in a statement on February 4 that Heim died of bowel cancer in 1992, citing his son and acquaintances in Cairo where he had been living under the assumed identity of Doctor Tarek.
