Chilean lawyer Fernando del Valle speaks

MARBELLA, Spain: Chilean lawyer Fernando del Valle speaks during a press conference in Marbella, southern Spain, 01 December 2005. Del Valle was convicted in the "Ballena Blanca" (Operation White Whale) case. Del Valle was freed after paying a 600,000-euro bond. The scandal involved the alleged use of laundered money siphoned off from the Russian oil giant Yukos, which was used to build homes, many of which were later bought by British and Irish citizens. Around 250 homes were declared "frozen" by Spanish courts, prompting fears by the buyers that the homes would be sold to pay off Yukos creditors.
