Carmen Miranda, center, was one of the celebrities at the "City of Girls of Rio de Janeiro", held at the St. Regis Hotel in Manhattan on December 11, 1941. The occasion was a charity event sponsored by the First Lady of Brazil, Senora Getulio Vargas. To Ms. Miranda's left is Martin de Botelho, and Mrs. Carlos Martins to her right.
