NAMIBIA-CONSERVATION-WILDLIFE-CHEETAH
A captive cheetah performs a mock run, to keep up with the hunting instinct, in an enclosure at the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Otjiwarongo, Namibia, on February 18, 2016.
The Cheetah Conservation Fund, an organization dedicated to saving the cheetah in the wild, was founded by Laurie Marker in 1990. Based on research, the CCF has created a set of integrated programs that together address the threats both to the animal and its entire ecosystem, including human populations. Some cheetahs have been kept by people as pets and cannot be released into the wild. / AFP / GIANLUIGI GUERCIA (Photo credit should read GIANLUIGI GUERCIA/AFP via Getty Images)
