Crowhurst On Teignmouth Electron
British businessman and amateur sailor Donald Crowhurst (1932 - 1969) aboard his trimaran, Teignmouth Electron, prior to taking part in the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, solo round-the world, 1968. Crowhurst was at one point considered likely to win the race in record time. It later emerged that he had faked his navigation records and had not left the Atlantic during his 243 days at sea. Crowhurst's body was never found and he was presumed to have committed suicide in the Atlantic in July 1969. (Photo by Rolls Press/Popperfoto via Getty Images/Getty Images)
