El Paso, Texas sector of border patrol
U.S. Border horse patrol agents from the El Paso, Texas sector ride alongside the guarded U.S. border September 10, 1999. They are part of a group of 18 that ride horses as they patrol the U.S. border from El Paso, Texas to Luna County line in New Mexico. They cover an area of 46 miles on horseback. The advantage that an agent has on horse back is that he can cover more area than agents riding in a car would be unable to. (photo by Joe Raedle)
