MUZZAFARPUR, BIHAR, INDIA-NOVEMBER 13, 2017: An OB-GYN comprehensive abortion care (CAC) master trainer explains components of the manual vacuum aspirator (MVA). MVA is a safe and effective method of abortion that involves evacuation of the uterine contents using a hand-held, portable aspirator, and is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Ipas Development Foundation supported the introduction of MVA into the public health system of India, and works in partnership with governments of 12 states to train CAC providers on this technology as part of their high-quality abortion services.
