An Indian woman of the Gothikoya or Muri
An Indian woman of the Gothikoya or Muria Gond tribe from Maoist insurgency-hit Chhattisgarh state sits in a temporary hamlet inside the forest terrain of Khammam district, about 450 km from Hyderabad, on July 2, 2009. Andhra Pradesh state shares 150 km continuous forest border with Chaattisgarh, origin of a 30,000 exodus of Gothikoya tribals fleeing clashes, which began in late 2005, between Maoist Naxalites and the Chhattisgarh government. The authorities says these settlements are illegal and have allegedly forcibly evicted hundreds of displaced persons by repeatedly burning down their hamlets.
