Indian nuclear reactor achieves global milestone

An Indian made nuclear power plant at Rawatbhata in Rajasthan created history by running un-interrupted and continuously for a period 765 days a little over two years. The 220 MW reactor's achievement beats an American reactor which ran for 739 days at one stretch. Unit-5 at Rajasthan a Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) made in 2010 now takes on the global rank number two. The pole position is still held by a Canadian reactor, Ontario Power Corporation's Pickering-7 plant ran for 894 days, (Photo by Pallava Bagla/Corbis via Getty Images)
