Perjury Trial

(Original Caption) Alger Hiss, former State Department employee whose previous trial ended with a hung jury, is shown (R) with his attorney Claude B. Cross of Boston, walking through the subway on the way to federal court today. The second perjury trial scheduled to begin this morning, was postponed to November 1, after the defendant's attorney asked for more time for preparation. First move of the defense was to seek a change of venue to Vermont where Mr. Hiss thinks he will get a more impartial trial. Attorney Cross has taken the place of Lloyd Paul Stryker, who defended Hiss at the first trial.
