Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, 1900. The second son of Queen Victoria, Alfred (1844-1900) succeeded his uncle Ernst as Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha in 1893. He married the Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna, daughter of Tsar Alexander II of Russia, in 1874.
