Artwork of Gliese 887 b and c - stock illustration
At 11 light-years distance, Gliese 887 is one of the closest stars to the Sun. A red dwarf, it is dimmer than the Sun and about half its size, which means its habitable zone is much closer in. Astronomers have found two so-called super-Earths orbiting the star, dubbing them Gliese 887 b and c. The star itself is unusually quiescent for a red dwarf, with very little magnetic activity amd few star spots.
