Celebrity photographer Kevin Mazur has been photographing Lady Gaga since her "Poker Face" days and has been there for many of the singer's most pivotal career moments. In celebration of Mother Monster, Mazur reflected on his favorite shots of Gaga, in his own words:
2014: Roseland Ballroom
"This was shot during her residency at Roseland Ballroom. I documented almost all of the seven shows. Gaga was the first American woman to have a residency there and it was also the last show before the venue closed. On the final night, people were tearing up and taking home pieces of the venue like pieces of the carpet or anything they could take with them."
2015: Art pop
"The year after the Roseland residency I was asked to come photograph several dates on Gaga's 'Art Pop' tour. I am always curious to see the costumes and set creations she comes up with. This tour was especially unique."
2017: Superbowl halftime show
"I was very excited when I found out that she would be the halftime act at the Superbowl. I cover this event every year and I knew she would kill it. It's not surprising that she is up for an Emmy Award for this performance."
2017: Grammy awards
"When Lady Gaga performed with Metallica at the Grammys it was the stand out performance of the night. I have worked with Metallica and Lady Gaga separately and it's always exciting to see the collaboration when artists from different bands play together. It's one of the things that makes the Grammys so special."
