  • Lyrics: There Was A Time lyrics by Leah Coloff song by Lucibel Crater It still wanted two hours to midnight when they pulled into the motel parking lot. By the side of the road, waiting he found her in the moonlight, shining like a star, strung out like the milkyway. He asked her what her name was, but she didn't say and didn't want to. He wasn't a mean man and he wasn't a dangerous man, but he felt sorely tempted, and thought of just driving away. She fell asleep like a child and as he carried her into the room and laid her down on the bed, he was sorely tempted. But he wasn't a mean man and he wasn't a dangerous man. He felt his loneliness on the surface and didn't need to shun it. He sat and watched her as he smoked cigarettes. And the smoke rises and curls out the window and joins with the air in the sky. It rises to the shadows and it mixes with the whisper of the trees. There was a time when he would fall There was a time when he would fall They went out on the highway about half passed noon. Took off with a squeal and a spin of the steering wheel. She turned on the radio and flipped through the stations trying to find something to match her throbbing brain. She settled on an old pop tune and sang along with wrong words and notes that belonged to some other song. He liked her voice even though it was scratchy and out of tune. She sang loud and like it made it her happy, And it made him happy, too. There was a time when he would fall. There was a time when he would fall in love. In love. In love. She said she was hungry and he told her he knew of an old fashioned diner up ahead with a real nice burger and a shake so thick you couldn't suck it up a straw. The place was a real throwback, all formica and chrome siding. The waitress was sweet and they ordered two burgers and chocolate shakes. She excused herself to the bathroom and they both wondered if she would come back at all. She looked at herself in the mirror, wondered how she got here. Wondered about the stranger at the table and if he really was kind. She gave another long stare into the mirror and then headed back to the table. The food was there and it looked so good. As she slipped into the booth she looked at him and said, "my name is Cathy". The time was now.

About Lucibel Crater

From a basement in Brooklyn comes Lucibel Crater, Lucibel Crater’s partner, and their good friend, Lucibel Crater. Along the way they lost the Lucibel with the guitar, but realized that no one would miss it ‘cause they sounded so rousing and fresh.

In June they released their first record, "The Family Album", produced by Lucibel, mixed by Bryce Goggin, and mastered by Fred Kevorkian. If music can trigger long-abandoned muscle memories, here are 10 short films ...
