Tumbledown House is a songwriting duo from Bozeman, Montana. Often described as gritty saloon jazz, parlor music inflicted with the unspeakable, or Tom Waits in a cocktail dress, Tumbledown House writes stories that revolve around shady characters down on their luck, brothels with an eccentric clientele, or a scorned woman out for revenge. These stories are delivered with sultry female vocals reminiscent of a bygone era and placed over jazz guitar accompaniment. Tumbledown House tours extensively and in the last year has performed over 100 shows in 20 states. The duo has performed in venues ranging from smoky bars to fine dining restaurants and prides itself on successfully entertaining crowds in venues as large as outdoor amphitheaters to intimate living rooms. Tumbledown House has shared the stage with such notable acts as Crooked Still, The Dodos, The Devil Makes Three, and Laura Gibson and continues to perform all over the country. The duo began working on music full time after winning the 4th annual Singer and Songwriter competition held in Livingston, Montana. Thirty-six contestants from across the state competed for the first prize of $600 worth of recording time at Peak Recording in Bozeman. After winning the competition, the duo began recording their self-titled debut album, which was released in July of 2009.
