Although Sal Lima is rooted in rock music, his creative endeavours are diverse and often transcend a single genre. His credibility as a composer has been firmly established with his success in international songwriting competitions.
He is a drummer/vocalist from Toronto, Canada who places much focus on natural percussive sounds in his recordings. He takes pride in his collection of vintage Rogers drums and percussion instruments from around the globe. His earliest influence in percussion began with his studies under David Kent of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
His other musical influences include his association with long-time songwriter and collaborator Dave DiCecco and the crew and musicians at the Studio 92 (the landmark Donlands movie theatre). Sal and co-writer DiCecco were honoured with a third place finish in the 2006 Pacific Songwriting Competition and their instrumental composition “Spaghetti Western” was a finalist in the well-respected Great American Songwriting Contest in 2009. Their recent releases have been chosen as soundtracks for school board literacy program productions and specialty radio broadcasting projects.
Sal Lima is an artist whose passion for music continues to grow as he gains exposure in the industry.
