Colombian-born Nicolas Alvarez is a Tokyo-based composer, orchestrator, arranger and production manager. Having worked with many of the world’s top scoring orchestras in Hollywood, Nashville and Europe, Nic is well versed in every aspect of orchestral music production from composition and arranging through to copying, recording and mixing. In 2012, Nic was the scoring production manager for Microsoft’s Halo 4, recorded at Fox Film Studio’s Newman Scoring Stage with the Hollywood Studio Symphony. Nic’s more recent projects include Disney music library Japan, Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 5 and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 13. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Nicolas specialized in music business, composing, and orchestration for film and TV. In his youth he played as a percussionist for several orchestras and, at the tender age of 20, attained a position in Colombia’s national symphony orchestra. Nicolas then went on to study jazz drumming at the Colombian College of Jazz before heading abroad to further expand his musical career. Arriving in Japan, Nicolas shifted focus to composing and producing music for various types of projects including video games, TV programs, TVCM, corporate videos and more. Nicolas draws on his deep knowledge of music to produce music that is both richly orchestrated and characteristic of his individual style.
