Friends Academy are an American electronic music group, which formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2007. The group, comprised of Andrew Bishop, Matthew Longo and Allen Wilcox, met as college students in Vermont and relocated to Brooklyn after finishing school. Friends Academy’s music varies widely in scope and style, ranging from ambient and electronic music to big-canvas indie-rock. In addition to the extensive prevalence of vocals in their music, the band’s work often features organs, synthesizers, samplers, drum machines and guitar. In the spring of 2009, Friends Academy completed a debut eponymous EP, consisting of four tracks: No Comment, Gotham News, Windfall and Mesomorph. The band records in a loft studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and performs frequently throughout the northeast United States.
In the summer of 2009, Friends Academy recruited drummer Rob Corsetti. The band is currently writing, recording and performing music as a four-piece.
