Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Vic Pichardo started playing piano at age 6 and tried several instruments, before settling on drums for his first band, Segunda Imagen. Next he played keyboards for various local bands, most notably Sonico and Cahoba Azul, both of which had a pretty big local following. Frustrated by the difficulties in keeping bands together, and wanting to try out his own musical vision, he wrote and produced two initial tracks, “Slip Away” and “She”, which received a fair amount of radio airplay. The first track that was also recorded and mixed by Vic was “Azul”, which also played on several radio stations in the country. In 2001 Vic released the Days Ep, comprised of 6 songs by the multi-instrumentalist (plus one hidden track), under La Viuda Negra records. The first single was “The other side”. It was followed by “If I”, which landed Vic as one of 12 finalists at the Benidorm Songwriter Festival in 2004, in Benidorm, Spain, broadcasted around the world. All Over The Place, the first full length album, is slated for release in May of 2009. The album is comprised of 11 songs, inspired by different musical styles, some with acoustic elements, some using electronic sound-scapes, and some utilizing the raw power of electric guitars. The album was written, produced, recorded and mixed by Vic at his small but well equipped home studio. Most instruments were self recorded, with occasional collaborations .. tracks by musician friends. Vic Pichardo currently lives outside Miami, FL and continues to write and produce his own songs, as well as music for other artists.
