THE “NATIONAL GHOST” STORY
What sound do you get when you put five seasoned musicians who never played together before in a room? The end result can be heard in this new band called National Ghost.
The musical amalgamation of ideas, inspirations and talents of the individual members - all former players of various Detroit rock n’ roll bands - melded together instantaneously and created a diverse sound that is eclectic yet familiar. It’s groove rock that’ll move you and take you out of this world when you hear it. With songs about everything from conspiratorial reptiles, evil aunties and ice cream, there is something for everyone’s ears here.
The musicians showcasing their many talents in this new apparition they named National Ghost are:
Graham Strachan – lead vocals
John Mabilia – guitars, vocals
Jamie Church- guitars/keys, vocals
Stew Preston – bass, vocals
Randy Nelson - drums
Their self-titled debut CD was recorded at Reel Sound Studios and engineered by its owner Jamie Ascenzo. The album was self-produced by the band that drew upon their prior recording experiences to craft a record that sonically stands on its own. The album was mastered by Jason Kuehn of Studio Seven who had this to say about the CD:
“I produce and master records all the time. The thing that struck me with the National Ghost recording is that it shares a vibe with the great records from the '70s but sounds fresh at the same time. So often you hear bands trying to be something specific. These guys just are. They are very unique in this day and age.”
The CD is available thru CDBaby.com, iTunes and thru the band websites.
