Rob Meany is an award-winning singer-songwriter and composer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is the lead singer, songwriter and keyboard player for the pop-rock band Terramara. The group has been active for more than 10 years, independently releasing three full-length CDs of original music, and garnering a loyal following among smart pop lovers around the world.
In Minnesota, Terramara has been nominated for Best Pop Group, and Rob for Best Keyboard Player. Rob was also featured in an extensive interview on Inside Musicast.com, a well-known music blog.
Rob's songs have won numerous awards, including Grand Prize in the Strictly Original New Music Competition on Minnesota's WB TV, Grand Prize in the Positive Pop Song Contest, Second Place in the Billboard World Song Contest, and top ten in the Unisong and the Independent Music Awards (IMA), among others.
Rob's songs have also been featured in many national and international television programs such as Supernatural (CW), Making The Movie: The Watchmen (UK), Animal Planet, Biography (A & E), Dress My Nest (Style Network), Emeril Green, Amazing Wedding Cakes (WE), Man Vs. Food (Travel Channel), among others.
Rob also writes music for film, television, radio and internet-based media under the name Meantone Music, for clients such as National Geographic, The Smithsonian, 3M, Best Buy, Shure Corporation, United Healthcare, Cox Communications, Wellpoint and many others.
Rob was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, and began lessons in classical piano at the age of 12. He continued to study and perform on piano throughout high school and college. Over the years he also learned to play electric bass, acoustic guitar, trumpet, french horn, and ukulele. He played in band and jazz band in high school and college, and sang in choir in college. Rob graduated from St. Olaf College, in Northfield, Minnesota, with a B.A. in English and Music. Rob currently lives in Bloomington, Minnesota.
